Ultra’s advanced, persistent, wide area surveillance systems deliver the enhanced situational awareness necessary for the protection of forces, forward operating bases and other exposed positions, as well as enabling the monitoring of land borders.

To meet the demanding requirements of short or long duration covert surveillance applications, Ultra has designed an accredited, secure, rapidly deployable, low SWAP, modular, IP network surveillance system for the real-time streaming and recording of video, audio and other data over a variety of network bearers (cellular, Wi-Fi, mesh radio and satellite).

Ultra applies its sophisticated data correlation and fusion capabilities to the integration of high performance sensors including radar, electro-optics, transponders, data links, and seismic/acoustic/magnetic/PIR remote ground sensors, providing operators at all levels with an accurate, real-time common operating picture with actionable information for identifying threats and initiating the mitigating action that will protect lives and assets.

Ultra’s advanced systems can support smuggling and illegal immigration detection and prevention operations, as well as military, counter-terrorism and homeland security missions.

The Situational Awareness Management System (SAMS) software suite provides the capability to integrate, manage and control all aspects of land-based surveillance. SAMS provides a scalable, modular and open, service-oriented architecture that delivers a bespoke solution tailored to the individual requirements of the customer. The system delivers a server/client based application which can accommodate as many servers and clients as required.

SAMS applies the most appropriate sensors to meet operational requirements, gathering data which is then correlated, fused, analysed, displayed and recorded by the system.

The concept of operations of the SAMS system is focused around an access-controlled operator Human Machine Interface (HMI), delivering an intuitive and user-friendly experience combined with powerful alarm management, threat evaluation and situational awareness functionality. The system can be managed by a single operator or a team of operators, each focussed on specific sensors or particular areas or zones of responsibility. Operators can access their designated level of information in real-time, creating an efficient and detailed monitoring capability through a structured and coordinated approach.

SAMS provides situational awareness through the integration of multiple sensors and sensor sites within a Command & Control (C2) environment to deliver actionable, real-time information to decision makers at all levels.  The main functional areas of SAMS are:

  • Sensor integration, management and control
  • Radar tracker processing
  • Transponder and data links
  • Integration and control of electro-optic systems
  • Blue force tracking
  • Sensor track data correlation and fusion
  • Threat evaluation (video analytics, track analytics, pattern of life)
  • Data recording and replay
  • Data partitioning and user access rights
  • Data presentation
  • System configuration
  • System health monitoring
