Brazil phase-1 FAT and shipment complete
05 JUNE 2020
Over the course of May, CIS’ Surveillance and Security Systems (SSS) team delivered 11 analogue/digital recording systems through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and successfully shipped them to the customer in Brazil, part of a £4.3M project to deliver 15 systems across key regions in the country. This was a joint collaboration between our Burridge and Farnborough teams and was all achieved in spite of the challenges of Covid-19, completing a significant milestone in the project and delivering a key capability to Brazilian Air Traffic Control (ATC) authorities.
The systems will be installed in local airports mainly within the Amazon state of Brazil and are capable of recording the ED-137B VOIP protocol being rolled out across Brazil’s Air Traffic Network (ATN). The team were able to quickly respond to the challenges of the current environment and adapt the delivery to incorporate special packing arrangements that ensured all site equipment was shipped in single cases. This successfully de-risked a complex shipment process whilst still ensuring that SSS was able to deliver on our commitments to our customer.
Gary Mackay, business unit director SSS, said:
‘During these unprecedented times it is essential that we deliver to our customers in a safe and efficient way, ensuring they have the technologies and capabilities they need to drive the highest safety standards in ATC whilst keeping everyone as safe as possible. The team did an incredible job in producing and testing the equipment under such extra-ordinary circumstances, quickly adapting operations and processes to allow us to test and deliver the systems on time. A big thank you to all those involved in the project, and we look forward to delivering the next phase of the project.’
